Irish protestor released from jail in Italy

The Irishman arrested at the Genoa protests last month for possessing a Swiss army penknife has been released and is due to return home to Dublin this evening.

The Irishman arrested at the Genoa protests last month for possessing a Swiss army penknife has been released and is due to return home to Dublin this evening.

31-year-old Joe Moffat, from Drimnagh, was arrested on July 22nd amid massive protests against a meeting of the G8 leaders in the Italian port city of Genoa. Mr Moffat was charged with possessing a lethal weapon and with resisting arrest, but it is not clear whether those charges have been dropped.
