Former Garda to be sentenced today

A former Garda will be sentenced today on two charges of harassing his ex-girlfriend by telephone.

Austin Woods, with addresses in Dublin and Louth, made more than 2,000 phone calls to Colette Johnson in an effort to rekindle their relationship.

The phone calls even continued despite a barring order against Mr Woods and his subsequent arrest.

In the end, other Gardai had to electronically monitor Mr Woods' movements to protect the mother-of-one.
