Disabled man target of pipe bomb attack

A severely disabled man was amongst those who escaped in an overnight loyalist pipe bomb attack on a Catholic family in the North.

The family live in the village of Derriaghy, between Belfast and Lisburn.

They awoke to hear a bang and find their home filled with smoke in the early hours of the morning.

Mrs Christine Curran, who has lived there with her family for the last seven years, made a plea on the BBC this morning to be left in peace.

"We don't know who would target us. We haven't got a clue," she said, her voice quivering with emotion.

"We don't bother anybody. All I want to know is - do these people realise what they are doing? If it was their mother or their father, would they like it?"

Almost on the point of tears, she continued: "For God's sake, just leave us alone. All we want is a bit of peace, that's all. It's frightened the life out of us - we don't need it. Please leave us alone!"
