Report recommends marriages only last for 10-15 years
An expert report that was commissioned by the Government has recommended that newly-weds should no longer enter into marriage vows until death do them part.
Instead the report suggests that marriage vows should only last for a period of 10-15 years before they must be renewed.
The report revealed that more and more Irish marriages are coming under pressure.
The two reports, which were carried out for the Department of Social, Family and Community affairs, suggested that domestic abuse was responsible for 34% of the couples who seek help, 25% blame alcohol and only 3% believed that counselling would improve the relationship.
