Three arrested in connection with terrorist activity

Three men have been arrested and a quantity of bomb-making equipment has been seized in Dundalk as part of an ongoing garda investigation into the actions of dissident paramilitary groups.

Three men have been arrested and a quantity of bomb-making equipment has been seized in Dundalk as part of an ongoing garda investigation into the actions of dissident paramilitary groups.

The three men, one from Dundalk and two from Dublin, were arrested by gardai on the Carrick Road in Dundalk after they got off a train.

The men are in their late twenties and thirties and are being held for questioning under the Offences Against the State Act.

The arrests were made in an operation involving members of the Emergency Response Unit and local gardai.

The operation was co-ordinated from Garda headquarters in Dublin.
