FG wants Garda inquiry as vandals cause huge DART disruption

As northbound DART services from Dún Laoghaire are yet again affected this morning , Fine Gael has called for a full Garda inquiry into incidents of repeated vandalism that have caused major disruption to thousands of commuters.

The call was made by Senator Helen Keogh who said she was aware of widespread frustration and anger among the travelling public in Dún Laoghaire, Greystones and Bray at constant breakdowns in the service.

Senator Keogh said she believed the repeated nature of the vandalism, which causes major disruptions to DART services, demanded a thorough Garda investigation.

"Given the scale of the disruption, it is no longer acceptable that Iarnród Éireann should shrug its shoulders and tell rail commuters to grin and bear it. What is now needed is a major Garda investigation into the nature and source of the vandalism, as well as a root-and-branch review of security on the DART line."
