Trawler crew make explosive catch

A mine, believed to date back to the Second World War, has become entangled in a fishing boat's net off the north coast.

A mine, believed to date back to the Second World War, has become entangled in a fishing boat's net off the north coast.

The trawler is heading for Annalong in Co Down, where it is intended to drop the mine in shallow waters so it can be dealt with.

A lifeboat is travelling alongside the trawler in case the crew, who are said to be calm, wish to evacuate.
