Woman wins record sum in equality case

A woman has been awarded a record £85,000 in an equality case against Golden Vale in Charleville, Co Cork.

Rebecca O'Malley felt she had been moved aside from the post of marketing manager to make room for a male colleague.

The size of the award is being heralded by the Equality Authority as an important message, which could encourage victims of discrimination to come forward.
