Motor claims must be reduced for lower insurance, Callely says
Reducing the level of motor insurance claims has been identified as the key to cheaper insurance, according to the chairman of the joint Oireachtas Committee on Enterprise and Small Business. Fianna Fail Deputy Ivor Callely said young drivers in particular are being unfairly penalised by the fact that Ireland has the third highest rate of claims in the EU.
Deputy Callely said the introduction here of the British system should be considered, as the UK has cheaper insurance, cheaper settlement costs and lower personal injury claims.
