Children's rights groups launch cross-border drive

The Irish Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children is launching a cross-border campaign with its northern counterpart, the NSPCC.

The organisations are joining forces to highlight the need for enhanced legislation to protect children.

Grace Kelly of the ISPCC says there are many legal loopholes, which allow abusers to slip through the net.

She says that in the North, an offender is obliged to notify the authorities within 72 hours, while in the south, an offender has ten days to register.
