Two expected to be charged with nun's killing

The two men, accused of hacking an Irish nun to death in Saint Lucia, are expected to be charged with murder and attempted murder, according to police. 20-year old Kim John and 34-year old Francis Philip are expected to appear in court today.

They were arrested shortly after an attack on worshippers who were celebrating mass inside a local Roman Catholic cathedral on the Caribbean island. At Communion time, attackers burst into the cathedral and set about attacking people and the altar with machetes and a blowtorch. 72-year old Sister Theresa Egan died after being attacked with a machete. 13 others were injured, some critically. Since their arrest, the two have told police that they are Rastafarian prophets on a mission to combat corruption in the Catholic Church. Although local Rastafarian leaders have condemned Sunday’s attack, saying those responsible have abused the movement’s name.
