A competition to manage a new primary school in the Cork town of Ballincollig has opened with an invitation for prospective patrons to apply.

The decision will ultimately rest with Education Minister Richard Bruton as to who should be patron of the eight-class school due to open next September.

It is one of three scheduled to open in 2017 for which applications to become patron have been invited, the others being in Dún Laoghaire and Pelletstown in Dublin.
