Two men, arrested near Killarney on Tuesday by gardaí from the Kerry Divisional Drugs Unit, appeared yesterday at Tralee District Court on charges relating to possession of methamphetamine, known as crystal meth, for sale or supply.

Davin Foley aged 35, an unemployed man of An Báinseach, Killorglin, was arrested at Glebe Car Park in Killarney , the court was told. He was later formally charged at Killarney Garda Station and he made no reply to the charges , Garda Stephen Hourigan said.

The amount involved 220g, valued at €13,200 and the DPP said the matter was to be dealt with at the Circuit Criminal Court.

Solicitor Padraig O’Connell said his client had no assets, no bank account and was on social welfare.

Daryl O’Connor, aged 22, of Springfield House, Rangue Killorglin, was arrested at 4pm at the Industrial Estate, Scart Cross and taken to Killarney Garda Station, Garda Kevin Walshe outlined. He was charged that on October 25 at Aga Motors, Scart Cross, Farranfore, he had in his possession crystal meth for sale or supply. Solicitor Padraig O’Connell said his client worked at Aga Motors and he earned around €300 a week.

Judge James O’Connor remanded both men on bail to appear at Killarney District Court on December 6 for service of the book of evidence.
