Gardaí search for gun following arrests in Cork

Gardaí are questioning two men after shots were fired outside a flat and a high-speed car chase ensued through Cork’s suburbs yesterday.

The men, both in their late 20s and both with addresses in the city, were arrested after their car crashed outside Páirc Uí Rinn GAA stadium as thousands of fans arrived for adouble-header.

Fans watched in horror as the car encountered match-traffic, was cornered by two Garda cars, then struck a Garda car and a private car as the men tried to escape, before being subdued by a combination of uniformed gardaí and armed detectives.
