Suicide among top causes of death in young adults

External causes of death, including suicide and accidents, were the leading cause of death among young adults in the first three months of this year.

There were 8,609 deaths in the first quarter; 4,339 were male and 4,270 were female.

According to the latest quarterly vital statistics from the CSO, there were 8,537 male births and 7,943 female births recorded in the same period.
