A completed fresh report of an investigation into the disappearance 18 years ago of trainee school teacher Deirdre Jacob has not advanced a garda inquiry into the unsolved case.

The teenager vanished without trace after last being seen at about 3pm outside the gate of her family home at Roseberry, Newbridge, on July 28, 1998.

Kildare-based Garda Supt Martin Walker said investigators remain at a loss: “Nothing new is jumping out at us.”
