Thousands assembled in Trafalgar Square before moving down Whitehall to continue their protest outside the Houses of Parliament.

A Facebook event, set up in the aftermath of Friday's referendum result, to organise a protest had to be cancelled over safety concerns.

Yet, many of the 50,000 who had suggested interested attended regardless.

Prominent Leave campaigners Boris Johnson and Nigel Farage bore the brunt of protester anger, with chants and signs ridiculing them.
