A teenager who was at the centre of a national campaign to secure her a bed in intensive care and a life- saving operation has passed away, aged just 19.

Breda Kevane from Tralee came to national attention last month when her family made a public appeal for her to be moved from her native Kerry to specialist care in Cork or Limerick, only to discover there were no beds available.

The family of Breda, who had spina bifida and hydrocephalus, took to the airwaves to make her case, with her brother Paddy spearheading the campaign.
