Terry Wogan 1938-2016: Broadcasting master was head of the Irish ‘Murphia’

A broadcasting master who made it look effortless, part of the fabric of the BBC and the head of the ‘Murphia’ in the UK media industry — colleagues and friends of the late Terry Wogan yesterday acknowledged the Limerick native’s 50-year contribution to the UK airwaves. TV host Noel Edmonds said “a true master has gone”.

“He mastered broadcasting’s greatest challenge — to be admired and respected by public and peers alike,” Mr Edmonds said.

Irish presenter Eamonn Holmes wrote: “The Don is gone — Will miss you so much head of The Murphia. Thanks for your blessing & your friendship.”
