Icy conditions cause accidents as cold snap bites

Two school buses skidded on icy roads in Cork in separate incidents yesterday morning as cold conditions wreaked havoc on roads across the city and county.

A bus transporting secondary-school students skidded on ice on the road between Leamlara and Carrigtwohill to the east of Cork City.

While initial reports incorrectly claimed the bus had overturned, the vehicle did become wedged across both sides of the road.
