One in four people in Ireland want a coalition of Fine Gael, Labour, and a string of independents to form the next government after the general election — more than any other potential coalition option.

The potential formation of the next Government has been drawn by the latest Red C opinion poll, which is based on the views of more than 1,000 adults interviewed by phone between Monday and Wednesday amid a bout of fresh speculation about what results the imminent vote may create.

According to the poll, Fine Gael now has 28% (down 3 percentage points) of public support, Fianna Fáil 20% (up 1 pp), Sinn Féin 18% (no change), Labour 9% (up 2 pp), independents 15% (up 1 pp), the Anti Austerity Alliance/People before Profit 4% (n/c), Social Democrats 3% (n/c), Greens 3% (n/c), and Renua 1% (n/c).
