Simon Coveney confirms review of the Defence Forces after Paris terror attacks

Defence Minister Simon Coveney has said he has agreed to an operational review of the Defence Forces in the wake of Paris terror attacks and that the numbers in the army rangers will also be increased.

The specialist army ranger wing, compiling some of the best-trained personnel in the force, will have their numbers increased by 50%, Mr Coveney confirmed.

He told the Dáil there were constant checks by gardaí and Defence Forces about upgrading and assessing their response to incidents and threats that may arise.
