A man who claims he was indecently assaulted as a schoolboy has attributed becoming a child sex abuser himself in later life to what had been done to him, a court heard.

A retired teacher, aged 73, has pleaded not guilty at Limerick Circuit Court to 78 charges of indecently assaulting 13 boys at a primary school on dates between September 1978 and June 1981.

The trial has already been told by a number of former pupils of ongoing sexual abuse they were subjected to by the accused.
