House prices showed a surprisingly strong rise last month — jumping 2.3% nationally.

House prices jump by 2.3% in August

New figures from the Central Statistics Office (CSO) confirmed property prices in August, traditionally a quiet month, were up 2.3%, and 9.5% in the year.

It was the 27th annual increase in a row, on a monthly basis, and up slightly from the year-on-year rise of 9.4% posted in July.
