VIDEO DOCUMENTARY: Waking up to sleep ... Two peoples' battle with narcolepsy

In 2009, thousands of children in this country were taken to their nearest doctors office or medical centre to take part in a vaccination programme against the swine flu epidemic. For over 80 of these children, who developed narcolepsy in the wake of that vaccination, their lives were changed forever.

This documentary by Ryan Price, a Journalism and New Media masters student from Cork Institute of Technology, tells the story of two of those children.

Dylan and Gemma from Cork contracted the incurable sleeping disease after receiving the Pandemrix swine flu vaccine and this film is a portrayal of the struggles they and their families experience on a daily basis in the fight to live a normal life in face of the constant feeling of sleep deprivation and tiredness.
