Gardaí block fundraiser permit for anti-water group

Gardaí have prevented an anti-water charges party from fundraising in a key flashpoint area because the money could be used to encourage the “commission of an unlawful act”.

Socialist/Anti-Austerity Alliance TD Paul Murphy said the situation amounts to “political policing” after the group was turned down for a fundraising permit in the same part of Dublin as last November’s infamous Jobstown controversy.
