Heartfelt tributes were paid to the late Ballyshannon-based Sergeant Michael Galvin yesterday, on a day when Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan paid a private visit to boost morale in the shell-shocked station.

The Commissioner met several of the late sergeant’s colleagues, many of whom are still traumatised over the background to the death of their colleague.

At Ballyshannon District Court, Judge Kevin Kilrane said there were matters that would be improper for him to go into, in connection with the highly regarded officer’s tragic death.
