Teen threatened woman out walking her dogs

Keith Greaney of 45, Dunard, Lotabeg, Mayfield, Cork, pleaded guilty yesterday at Cork District Court to the charge. Insp Mary King, outlining the details, said at 5pm on August 19 last year, Greaney was in a green Peugeot car and drove beside a young woman and slowed down to make threats to her.
The woman was walking her two dogs at Silverheights Avenue, Mayfield, Cork, when the offence was committed. Insp King said the woman was alone.
Another woman was sitting in the front passenger seat of Greaney’s car but did not make any comment during the incident. Moments later, the woman who had been threatened reported the incident at Mayfield Garda Station.
Gardaí called to Greaney’s home eight times to interview him but failed to contact the accused. Judge Con O’Leary said: “He clearly has a difficulty, I will put it back for a week for sentence.”
The judge said he would like to get an outline of the history of criminal incidents between Greaney and the complainant in the case and members of her family.
Mr Buttimer said there had been no further offences from the accused in recent months.
Earlier this month Greaney appealed against a nine-month jail sentence on a charge of assault causing harm to a young man at the Fob and Gill pub at Mayfield Shopping Centre, Cork, on December 11, 2014.
The appeal judge hearing that case increased the sentence to one year and suspended it on condition that the accused would keep the peace for four years.
