The programme, the last episode of this season, is set to hear tributes from friends and colleagues of the broadcaster, who passed away on Monday morning at the age of 76.

A spokesperson for RTÉ confirmed that the show will feature a segment to “celebrate the life of Bill O’Herlihy” but could not confirm who would take part.

Meanwhile Cork City Council opened a book of condolences for the O’Herlihy family yesterday. The book, hosted in the atrium of the Civic Offices in Cork City Hall, will be available for signing for the next week.

Mr O’Herlihy will lie in repose today at Fanagans Funeral Home, Dundrum, from 4pm to 7pm.

He will be buried tomorrow at Shanganagh Cemetery after a funeral Mass which will be held at 11.30am in the Church of Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, Foxrock.

Mr O’Herlihy became a journalist at 16, writing for The Cork Examiner, and went on to cover 10 World Cups and 10 Olympics among other major sporting events for RTÉ.
