The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, has announced the heritage structures across the country that are set to receive a total of €624,000 in funding under the Structures at Risk Fund 2015.
No. 5 Grenville Place in Cork is where George Boole wrote his seminal An Investigation of the Laws of Thought while Professor of Mathematics at Queens College Cork in the mid-1800s. Cork City Council has received €25,000 towards restoring the derelict site.

Adelaide Memorial Church, Myshall, Co Carlow; 130 Thomas St, Dublin; and Hope Castle Gate Lodge in Co Monaghan all received the highest awards of €40,000 each.
The funding will allow conservation work to be carried out on sites in both private and public ownership deemed to be at significant risk of deterioration and which are protected under the Planning and Development Act 2000.
Ms Humphreys said the fund provides targeted investment in the most vulnerable aspects of our built heritage: “This fund will help to ensure the survival of some of Ireland’s most significant architectural, cultural, archaeological and historic buildings.”
The minister said that the conservation work would also contribute to local employment.
