The former home of one of the fathers of computer science is among the 28 sites to benefit from government funding for conservation work on heritage buildings.

The Minister for Arts, Heritage and the Gaeltacht, Heather Humphreys, has announced the heritage structures across the country that are set to receive a total of €624,000 in funding under the Structures at Risk Fund 2015.

No. 5 Grenville Place in Cork is where George Boole wrote his seminal An Investigation of the Laws of Thought while Professor of Mathematics at Queens College Cork in the mid-1800s. Cork City Council has received €25,000 towards restoring the derelict site.
