He will be sentenced on April 22 when also faces sentencing in the more serious case of soliciting someone to murder three people — a member of the garda fraud squad, a revenue commissioner, and an accountant.

O’Flynn, of Hayfield Drive, Whitechurch, Co Cork, was arraigned on six fraud charges related in part to fraudulently claiming commissions for mortgages and using false accounts.

Marjorie Farrelly, defending, applied for an adjournment so that sentencing in the two cases could be dealt with together. She made an additional application for the court to direct a report from the governor of Cork prison.

“He has been in custody for a considerable number of months,” said Ms Farrelly. A governor’s report would not be issued except when directed by the court. We hope this report would be of assistance at time of sentencing.”
