Defence Minister Simon Coveney has slammed as “unacceptable” Russian jets using Irish controlled airspace without warning.

Mr Coveney said the Kremlin had been told about the Government’s unhappiness and demands for the incursions to cease.

“It’s not an acceptable situation and we have let that be known to the Russian authorities and we hope it won’t be happening again,” Mr Coveney told RTÉ.
