Bail changed for trip to Disneyland
Garrett Hill, of 18 The View, Gleann Na Rí, Tower, Blarney, Co Cork, appeared on bail yesterday at Cork District Court where he was served with a book of evidence on the five charges.
Emmet Boyle, his solicitor, said there was an application, previously discussed with the gardaí, to have Mr Hill’s bail varied so that he could fly to France today and return on Tuesday, September 30.
Inspector Michael McGuire did not object to the application and Judge Leo Malone made the amendment to the defendant’s bail.
The accusations facing Mr Hill include that at 12 Woodfield Hall, Station Road, on February 17, he intentionally or recklessly engaged in conduct, namely throwing a lit petrol bomb, into the house occupied by Laura O’Callaghan which created a substantial risk of death or serious injury.
Mt Hill is also charged with assault causing harm to Breda O’Connell at Soho Bar on the Grand Parade, Cork City, on February 17.
The last three charges are that he threatened to kill Ms O’Connell and her two daughters, Celine and Laura O’Callaghan, at Woodfield Lawn, Blarney, also on February 17.
Bail conditions will resume following the defendant’s return from Disneyland.
Those conditions require him to stay away from Woodfield Lawn in Blarney and have no contact with the complainants or three other named witnesses.
Mr Hill’s bail also requires him to reside at his address at Gleann Na Ri, abide by a 9pm-8am curfew, and sign on daily at Gurranabraher Garda Station.
Inspector Michael McGuire confirmed service of a book of evidence on Mr Hill at Cork District Court yesterday.
Judge Malone sent the case forward to the county sessions of Cork Circuit Criminal Court commencing on October 29.
