Thousands of delirious Kerry fans will flock to Killarney tonight to welcome back the county’s All-Ireland winning heroes.

Fans set to celebrate in style as Kingdom reign supreme

After celebrating their 37th All-Ireland final success in Dublin into the small hours last night, the team are expected in Rathmore, home town of Aidan O’Mahony and Paul Murphy, by train at 4.40pm today. They are expected to be there for about 30 minutes before carrying on to Tralee for 6.10pm.

The team will then be taken by open-top bus to Austin Stack Park via Denny St. They are expected to leave Tralee at about 7.30pm-7.45pm to make their way to Fitzgerald Stadium in Killarney, where they will have a light meal. The main reception for the team is expected to kick of in or around 9pm.

While it was the county’s 37th All-Ireland senior football success, it was celebrated more vigorously than in previous years, given the team’s patchy form in the National League and the fact they were not fancied by many commentators to feature in the shake up for All-Ireland honours.

Kerry had played their way into form by hammering Cork in the Munster final earlier in the year, but the two-game semi-final battle against Mayo seemed to galvanise them for a tilt at top honours.

After a largely tactical affair, the underdogs, led by back-in-form Kieran Donaghy, came out on top over the much fancied Donegal on a score of 2-09 to 0-12.

Although, not destined to go down in the memory as a classic, it won’t matter to the thousands of Kerry fans expected to line the streets of Killarney.
