Warning over online car deals scam

People buying or selling cars privately over the internet risk being targeted by criminals, gardaí have warned.

They recovered, over the last three years, almost 80 cars bought with fake bank drafts and sold for cash to unsuspecting buyers.

So far, this year, 24 cars were recovered compared to 21 for all of 2013. The vehicles were all returned to their lawful owners.
