Kim, Kanye ... Kork? Couple honeymoon in Ireland

The most talked about newlyweds in the world, Kim Kardashian and Kanye West, touched down in Cork yesterday to start the honeymoon gossip columnists around the world are talking about.

The rapper and his television star wife are fresh from their multimillion-euro wedding ceremony on the turrets of a historic Italian fort in Florence on Saturday.

They jetted into Cork Airport on board a €30m private jet, an Embraer which has been converted to a Legacy 600 jet.

The luxury jet touched down just before 4pm and taxied to a quiet part of the airfield where a limo was waiting to whisk them to the Castlemartyr estate in East Cork, which had been sealed off for a time earlier.

The hotel said it would “make no comment at all”.

The wedding party left northern Italy yesterday with most headed back to America. At lunchtime yesterday a boyfriend of one of Kim’s sisters posted a photograph on his Instagram account from inside a plush private jet with Kanye sitting in the background.

Kim and Kanye are travelling to Ireland in the hope of enjoying a quiet romantic honeymoon.

Kanye has been to Cork twice before — playing two sold out concerts at the 2006 Live at the Marquee and again in 2009.

He stayed at the Castlemartyr resort and told hotel staff at the time that he loved the vibe at the gigs, and the reception he got from Irish concert goers. But he said what he appreciated most was how his privacy was respected.

Jay Z and Beyonce have also stayed at the hotel.

Kanye and Kim are understood to be planning to stay in or around the Cork region for a few days. They are due to leave Ireland over the bank holiday weekend for the next phase of their honeymoon.
