A student who was caught with drugs for sale or supply at an apartment when the property manager arrived with gardaí, challenged the case against him yesterday on the basis that it breached his constitutional right to the inviolability of his residence.

However, the trial judge rejected the argument and at that point, Jack Clayton, who is aged around 20, changed his plea to guilty to having cannabis for sale or supply at the property where he was then living, Bishops Grove, Curraheen Estate, Cork.

Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin said he would sentence Clayton on June 27 after being told he was getting drug rehabilitation.
