Garda boss hails new era for dissenters

Acting Garda Commissioner Nóirín O’Sullivan said she wants to inaugurate a new era for whistleblowers where they are not “marginalised” and seen as “disloyal”.

In her first address to middle-ranking gardaí, she said the recent controversies have resulted in a “surprising reality” which had opened up “new possibilities” for the force.

The interim commissioner received a standing ovation as she entered the conference to address 150 delegates attending the annual conference of the Association of Garda Sergeants and Inspectors.
