The jury will consider their verdict today in the trial of a man who denies 15 charges of sexually assaulting his partner’s daughter.

The 53-year-old is accused of sexually assaulting the girl when she was aged eight to 14 between 2005 and 2011 at addresses in Co Cork and also on a caravan holiday in Kerry. The jury of seven men and five women heard speeches from prosecution and defence and legal direction from Judge Seán Ó Donnabháin at Cork Circuit Criminal Court yesterday.

Siobhán Lankford, barrister for the prosecution, said of the complainant: “I submit she was truthful in her evidence and it would be safe for you to rely on the evidence which she gave.
