Man pleads guilty to sex with girl, 15

A 35-year-old man who made contact with a teenaged girl through Facebook ended up having sex with her 15-year-old-friend after buying her six cans of Dutch Gold lager.

Garda David O’Shea gave evidence at Cork Circuit Criminal Court, where the accused pleaded guilty to two counts of engaging in a sexual act with a child.

There was no suggestion of force or violence being used, but there could not be consent because of the age of the girl, prosecution barrister Siobhán Lankford said.
