Howlin: Bonuses for civil service may return

Pay bonuses could be offered to senior civil servants once the economy has recovered, Public Expenditure Minister Brendan Howlin has admitted.

He also said rules to monitor the performance of the public service may be used terminate their employment if they do not meet a certain standard.

Mr Howlin was speaking ahead of the publication of the Government’s public service reform plan for the next two years, which will be announced on Tuesday.
