Boy, 12, claims he was raped by 14-year-old in house

A 12-year-old boy claimed he was raped in a house by a 14-year-old boy, and yesterday a District Court judge said he would accept jurisdiction to deal with the case at Cork District Court.

The teenager, who is now 15, appeared yesterday with his mother at an in-camera hearing of Cork District Court, not facing a rape charge, but a count of sexual assault. Parties to the case cannot be identified for legal reasons.

The 15-year-old faces a charge of sexually assaulting the younger boy at a house in Co Cork on Oct 20, 2012.
