Siptu drivers at Dublin Bus have voted not to press ahead with strike action over a proposed cost-savings plan at the company, paving the way for management to start implementing the measures next week.

The Siptu drivers had been the only group of workers at the company to remain opposed to the €11m cost-savings plan which the company has said is essential to its survival.

Following the rejection of the plan in a ballot last week, the union had further balloted the drivers asking them whether they were prepared to take strike action.
