Extra staff at driving licence centres following ‘teething problems’

There were further delays yesterday at some new National Driver Licence Service Centres, although no motorists were turned away.

The Road Safety Authority said additional staff had been posted to the 34 centres around the country where motorists must now attend in order to obtain or renew a licence.

It followed strong criticism of delays and technical problems which beset the first day of the new service on Tuesday and resulted in large numbers of drivers not having their applications processed.
