Pressure will mount on Health Minister James Reilly and his officials to outline reforms with visiting troika officials this week amid continued disagreement over spending in his department.

Structural reforms in Mr Reilly’s portfolio, including the use of cheaper generic drugs in the health system, accounting systems and the proposed €666m in savings next year, will be examined.

The scrutiny of Mr Reilly’s budget and reform plans in the final troika mission comes as talks continue on whether Ireland needs emergency credit when it leaves the bailout at the end of the year.
