Ireland restored some pride last night by ending a bruising and failed World Cup qualifying campaign with a solid 3-1 win over Kazakhstan.

Meanwhile, Irish football legend Liam Brady, who worked as an assistant to Giovanni Trapattoni, has backed Mick McCarthy to become the next manager of Ireland.
