Man’s jaw broken in row at taxi base
The incident occurred after 12am on Aug 27 at the Carrigdhoun taxi base in Carrigaline, Co Cork.
Dan Lynch, aged 43, of Halfway, Ballinhassig, Co Cork, pleaded guilty to a charge of assault causing harm to Michael Barry.
Inspector Pat Meaney told Cork District Court Lynch was at the taxi base when Mr Barry arrived.
Insp Meaney said this was when Lynch hit Mr Barry on the side of the face, causing him to fall to the ground, striking his head, and becoming unconscious.
Judge Leo Malone convicted and fined Lynch €500 and refused an application to give him the benefit of a dismissal under the Probation of Offenders Act.
