‘Jealous’ man jailed for attack on partner

A man who viciously attacked his former partner and mother of his two children, because he wanted to see his sons, has been jailed for two years.

Derek McCann, aged 33, of Walkinstown Park, Walkinstown, pleaded guilty at Dublin Circuit Criminal Court to assaulting Natasha Kane causing her harm, at her flat in Dolphin’s House on Nov 23, 2012. Their two boys, aged 5 and 3, were asleep in the flat at the time.

The court heard that Ms Kane received a call from McCann that night asking to be let into the flat. She immediately called 999 as she anticipated there was going to be trouble. McCann then forced the door in and attacked her.
