Probe after claims sports coach abused teens

A sports coach in Waterford is being investigated by gardaí in relation to allegations he sexually abused teenage boys in the 1980s.

Gardaí yesterday confirmed that a “full investigation” was under way into the allegations after two men made statements of complaint against the man.

The man, who coached a team and is now in his 60s, has not yet been arrested as detectives will need time to investigate the allegations thoroughly.
