Campaigners for Waterford Regional Hospital continue their opposition to any downgrade of services as the “moment of truth” approaches for the area.

A march on Saturday came just days before the Cabinet is due to consider a report on the future of hospital networks which, people in the South-East fear, could result in a transfer of services away from the region’s biggest hospital.

Up to 3,000 marched to The Mall in Waterford City on Saturday, 105 days after another march attracted more than 12,000 people last October, while over 1,000 attended a candlelit vigil at the hospital itself in December.
